How do you count real users for the different projects?

YO guys, what's up?
I was wondering how do you count real users for projects which have a website and not a subscribe option on the yo index? http://www.yosubindex.com/challenge/
Do you check the yo subscribe button on the site?

    We count the users that are interacting with the service based on our database.
